The principle of revelation

Communication with man from the Heavens

Revelation is the means by which God communicates with individuals.  The most common methods are: 1) dreams; 2) visions; 3) the voice of the spirit; 4) inspiration or pure knowledge; and 5) through other individuals (this includes living and dead: heavenly ministers, scripture, prophets, teachers, etc.).  Regardless of the means chosen by God, revelation is always accompanied by the witness of the Holy Ghost.

Every person who obeys God and receives the gift of the Holy Ghost through the appropriate channels receives revelation from God.  The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “No man can receive the Holy Ghost without receiving revelation.” (Teachings, p.328)

God’s true followers throughout the history of the earth have received revelation.  One has only to open the scriptures to find evidence of that.  How great is the vanity and wickedness of a faith that denies the existence of revelation….It denies God His right to communicate His will to His children.

REVELATION IS OFTEN SO QUIET THAT IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR US TO HEAR.  IT IS CALLED "THE STILL SMALL VOICE."
